Frequently asked questions

Please reach me at Hfhwellnessrva@gmail.com or call if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We are certified foot care specialists through the American Foot Care Nurses Association (AFCNA) that have completed specialized training in foot care.

I follow the AFCNA's recommendations for code of ethics, protocols and standards as well as the CDC strict guidelines for infection control.

  • Difficulty reaching toes
  • Limited vision
  • Poor circulation
  • Corns or calluses
  • Thickened nails
  • Different shaped nails
  • Diabetics
  • Sensitive skin
  • Ingrown nails

A foot care nurse does not replace a podiatrist or MD. If I identify an issue that is beyond my scope of practice, I will provide education on seeing an appropriate provider.

Best practice is every six to eight weeks depending on how fast your nails grow. You will be offered the opportunity to schedule followup appointments at the end of your initial appointment to keep your nails trimmed and avoid complications.
